Glyn
Hunter
Born in Natal, South Africa, in 1948. Her family moved to
Chegutu (then Hartley) in Zimbabwe to develop a farm from
virgin bush in 1949. She, her sister Althea and brother Carl,
lived on the farm from then until 1960 when the family moved
to Marondera, east of Harare. She trained as a teacher in
Pietermaritzburg (Natal), married and now runs her own public
relations consultancy in South Africa.
Althea Farren
Sister of Glyn, and born in Natal in 1946. She returned to
Pietermaritzburg for her tertiary education and taught at
schools in Zimbabwe for 14 years. Now, with her husband Larry,
she owns and runs a promotional business which encompasses
a design studio and a screen and pad-printing factory.
Larry Farren
Born in Donegal, Ireland, in 1941, and brought up on various
British Royal Air Force bases in Britain and Germany where
his father was stationed, he came to Zimbabwe from Scotland
in 1962 for "a few years' holiday" and to serve
in the British South Africa Police. He did not get around
to going home, and adopted Zimbabwean citizenship. Larry married
Althea in 1970, and they have two adult children, Sean and
Brian.
